How do you protect your application downstream should a flow spike occur? Hoke Controls has engineered a simple yet innovative solution. Simply installing a XVH Series Excess Flow Valve can prevent excessive discharge of vapor or liquid from a break in a hose or piping system.
The XVH Series Excess Flow Valves act as flow switches that automatically close when a flow spike occurs. They are incorporated to protect tanks and cylinders from a pressure overload. Such unwanted pressure can jeopardize sealing integrity of downstream components resulting in leakage and overall safety of the application. Hoke’s Excess Flow valves are available in automatic and manual reset versions, depending on system requirements.
Hoke Excess Flow Valve
Automatic Reset Version:
The poppet will remain in the tripped position until system pressure becomes equal across the poppet. The bleed orifice in the poppet will allow the pressure to slowly equalize across the valve if the downstream line is closed or repaired. When the pressure becomes equal, the spring will then reset the poppet to the open position, allowing normal flow.
Manual Reset Version:
The poppet will remain in the tripped position with zero leakage and zero flow until pressure is manually equalized across the poppet. When the pressure becomes equal, the spring will then reset the poppet to the open position, allowing normal flow.
The spring holds the poppet in the open position during normal flow. When flow increases to the predetermined rate or trip point, the poppet will close.
The Automatic reset version of the XVH Series has an “anti-clog” wire which increases reliability by preventing a buildup of system fluid in the bleed port. The spring loaded poppet design of these Excess Flow Valves ensures they can be mounted in any direction and can be incorporated into any system. Both the automatic and manual versions are rated from 0 to 6000 psig, quick acting, low maintenance and have zero leakage. The combination of these features will help provide a reliable and safe working environment in any application.
